What is Aluminium Die Casting
Aluminium die casting is a manufacturing process used to produce complex metal parts by injecting molten aluminium into a precision steel mold (called a die) under high pressure. Once the metal cools and solidifies, the mold is opened, and the part is removed.
This process allows for the creation of strong, lightweight components with excellent surface finishes and dimensional accuracy. It's ideal for producing high volumes of parts efficiently and consistently. Aluminium die casting is widely used in industries such as automotive, electronics, aerospace, and consumer products due to its strength, corrosion resistance, and cost-effectiveness.

CONs
Aluminium Die-Casting
-
High initial investment cost (molds and material components)
-
Not suitable for metals and alloys with high melting points
Materials Used for
Aluminium Die Casting
-
Aluminium – Widely used in die casting, but prone to cracking or shrinking at high temperatures; often alloyed with copper or silicon to improve performance.
-
Copper – Commonly used for plumbing and electrical components due to its excellent corrosion resistance.
-
Zinc – Easy to cast and retains high strength at room temperature; preferred for hot-chamber casting because of its lower melting point compared to aluminium.
-
Magnesium – Ideal for applications requiring thin walls and high precision in die casting.
